Platform
If elected, my objectives while on council are as follows:
Plan for Toledo's long-term future
- Prioritize infrastructure in budget talks, focusing on our streets, sewers, and water treatment facilities
- Establish new zoning designations for community gardens and urban agriculture
Be a watchdog on the city budget
- Refuse to vote for any omnibus bills which request money for vague or unspecified purchases
- Investigate fuel economy of city vehicles and ensure that the most fuel-efficient suitable options are purchased
- Call for an investigation into the effectiveness of the surveillance cameras in residential areas
Resist blight and fight for better living conditions
- Work with the Lucas County Land Bank and the Arts Commission to move artists into blighted neighborhoods
- Hire more code inspectors and crack down on absentee landlords
Reverse the brain drain
- Promote urban village development in key neighborhoods like Summit St and Five Points
- Bring more free and family-friendly events downtown, including the revival of Party in the Park
Use technology to make government more transparent
- Make key documents like the city budget and city journal more accessible and searchable from the city website
- Commit to blogging regularly on city issues
"...has more ideas than most members of Congress. He too has seen the poverty and random violence, but he loves the city and wants to stay here and help it." -Keith Burris, Toledo Blade
